THE GREAT GARBAGE

I marvel at your authority

Standing twenty feet tall

A statue far more quaint than the sphinx

Garbage for ever intimidating

Pedestrians tremble before you

Cyclists fall irretrievably at your feet

Auto machines match-passing

Soldierly observe…

All quiet and eyes right!

We weak-mask with fists

Against your oozing onslaught

Our brains chlorinate in vain

Against your desecrated liquid

You are more dreadful than the terror of the East.
